ABOUT THE EXHIBIT: Rooted is a visual timeline that traces the artist’s growth from youth to the present. Shaped by the soil of the ’80s, their culture, family, and the people who poured into them, these pieces honor where he comes from—the lessons, the love, the labor, and the legacy. Rooted explores themes of family bonds, lifelong friendships, internal peace, unconditional love, and independent thought. It also reflects the importance of passing down wisdom and sharing the fruits of collective labor. To be rooted is to understand one’s history and heritage. It’s about recognizing and expressing gratitude for both the journey and the destination, because knowing where you're going begins with understanding where you came from.
